There is an old indonesian proverb that is very popular among the indonesians, It states "Tak Kenal maka tak sayang." Well, you may wonder what it means, it simply means if you are never acquainted to people, it will be impossible to love them. I find this is somehow true, since there is no way to start liking or loving somebody when you have exactly no ideas who they are. So, i am going to take this chance and just introduce myself. My name is Helaria, but most people just call me Yaya. My nick name (Yaya) holds a history. So, my actual nick name was supposed to be "Rara" but, my cousin who at that time was still very young, could not really pronounce "R" correctly so, instead of pronouncing "R" he pronounced "Why". Then, came the annual family gathering where we, as a family always gathered together and this time was held at his family's house and i who was still a baby, came with my family. Perhaps, he found me adorable that he wanted to play with me and started calling my name "Yaya". Everyone who was there thought it was a funny nick name..so thanks to him, my parents decided to change my actual nick name. So lets say, i was re-named when i was a baby.
However, i find my nick name is quite beneficial especially now since i have moved to Holland and some people just could not read my name properly so Yaya would just be an easy name for them to remember. Despite the fact that Dutch people write my name with "J" instead of "Y", It is always easier for them to remember 'Yaya' compared to when they have to remember such a name like "Helaria". One weird thing about me is that i am always into some things and these things i am into can suddenly become my temporary obsessions, well, some of them may stay permanently until now but, some are just blown away by the wind. Funniest thing about these temporary obsessions that they just came out of nowhere and into my mind then i would start thinking "That might be cool if i start doing that". One dumb example of my temporary obsessions was when i was into writing songs, i even think i might start a business with it. (What?) I guess that was just a part of growing up, wasn't it? :-) - Helaria
