Hanze Hogeschool's Communication Program- My experience
"Communication professionals must be creative, flexible, open-minded and always up for a challenge." -Hanze Hogeshoool
I have always wanted to go studying abroad, It is really a long story taking me to my final decision to study International Communication at Hanze University in Groningen. But honestly, being a hanze communication student is something that i would never regret choosing. So now, I've passed my first year and it was such a great year, even though i was flooded by large numbers of task but, in the end of the day, i have to say that the tasks that were given, contented of useful background knowledges that have to be owned by communication professionals, especially international ones. In the begining of my first year, the career prospects were also pointed out clearly as a clear direction from Hanze, it was really nice to have such a guidance on what this study would lead you to. My first year was great, as i have already mentioned above, i believe now i got a clear overview on what communication professionals do, and what different jobs and areas they can be placed at. I was also given some useful theories such as, learning communication psychologically, although that was hard, i have to admit but, it was also interesting. Currently, I am in my second year and as far as i am concerned this study goes well and hopefully goes even better than the first year since the grades in the second year are going to be put in the diploma, so i am praying to God i'll get higher grades.
In third year, i will be going abroad for my exchange as well as my internships. It sounds quite exciting but at the same time quite giving me the nerves. I've heard some stories from seniors who had done their third year..and they could only describe it as an awesome year, since you are able to live in two different countries all in one year. From the exchange year which will take around 6 months, you will get the experience of studying at another university abroad and from your internship year you will get a working experience. Hanze simply came up with these brilliant ideas, that was also one of the main reasons i chose Hanze University. In the fourth year which is the last year of the study program, i will be coming back to Groningen and finishing my thesis. Hanze itself supports great facilities, such as, the library where you can study because it is very quite there and they also provide almost all the books you need for communication study program (so if you are with low budgets you should try lend some of the books in library, that will work). It has also a nice park where you can chill out a bit when the weather is nice and when it is not raining. I guess i will have a lot more to say when i've completed the program. However, until now i am still going to recommend Hanze University in Groningen for you guys who are interested in communication especially in international communication. -Helaria
